Ok so I appreciate there are a lot of parenting blogs out there and I have been fortunate enough to stumble upon some raw hilarious aspects of parenting. I don’t think enough people share what it’s really like as I feel it can be a real saving grace at low times just as a reminder that no one actually knows what the bloody hell they are doing π however what I have found is as long as your children’s best interests at heart you will instinctively follow a path that’s best for your family. I also believe that no matter what the family set up is (seriously was 2.4 children ever a thing?) single parents, same sex parents etc etc it just doesn’t matter as long as the children are loved and cared for to the best of personal ability. Phew – bet you’re glad that’s done with! Ok so my heart kinda rambles a bit π I don’t really know how to put parenting experiences down as a full sense making piece of literature so I’m going to bullet point and add as I go so you don’t have to read all the above π and could just scroll on down π x
- School – parenting minefield the playground antics often start with the parents π³ maybe it’s the nostalgia of being on school premises but tread carefully and unless you are incredibly amazing at dealing with other parents when ‘your jimmy hit my tom!’ Etc just stay away – far far away not to a reclusive state but something near thatπ ever wondered why some parents – usually older ones already do this? Because they are wearing the tshirt already usually because they have older children so have already experienced playground politics – yes it is that bad π x
- Bedtime- soooo many different methods and so much snobbery! Use whatever method works for you as a parent to get some sleep, smile and nod at suggestions but if you end up with 3 kids and the dog in your bed and still snoozing 6 hours straight (or more you lucky thing) it’s a winner π
- Breast or bottle – all part of the running theme of do what works for you! Don’t let ANYONE tell you different than what feels right – even the dreaded mother in law who so obviously knows best π I did use bottles and I have breastfed a happy baby is what’s important – I draw the line at David walliams ‘bitty’ but hey each to their own π
- Clothing– utilise your local charity shops 1. It’s money well spent for deserved causes 2. It’s recycling! 3. You will be upset when your child’s brand new designer gear is enevitaly shit, sicked or stained on by the forever stain variety of food π (aka jars) oh also charity shops are your friend because if the balance is right your children with have it all and you will be lucky to own a hairbrush. Or soap https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/scent/ Or sanity.
